Privacy Policy

Summary

NextThing does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. It has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics service, and no third-party tracking. Everything the app remembers is stored locally on your device.

Local progress

Progress, XP, streaks, badges, saved moves, history, mission progress, profile tuning, and feedback are stored locally on your device using browser storage on the web and the operating system's app storage on iOS and Android.

This data stays on your device until you clear the site's storage, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. NextThing has no server copy to retain or restore.

The app also records a short local list of in-app activity events, such as completing a move, to power features like streaks and badges. This list is capped, never leaves your device, and is not sent anywhere.

Manual backups

You can export a backup file to save your local progress. Backup files stay on your device unless you choose to share or move them.

Importing a backup replaces the local progress stored on that device. NextThing does not upload backup files.

A backup file may include your progress, saved moves, history, badges, feedback, and profile tuning. Treat it as personal, and only share it with someone you trust.

Data we do not collect

NextThing does not sell data, does not use ads, and does not collect location, contacts, health data, payment data, or sensitive personal data.

The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts, location, notification, or health permissions.

No account, email address, phone number, or sign-in of any kind is required to use NextThing.

Third parties

NextThing does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. These pages do not load third-party fonts, scripts, or embedded content.

If you install NextThing from the App Store or Google Play, that store handles the download and any diagnostics under its own privacy policy. NextThing does not receive personal data from either store.

If you use the share feature, the text you share is passed to whichever app you choose. That app's own privacy policy then applies.

Children's privacy

NextThing is intended for users aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children, and because it collects no personal data at all, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Delete your data

You can delete NextThing data at any time by clearing the site's storage in your browser, or by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app on your device. Importing a backup replaces the local progress already on that device.

Because nothing is stored on a server, deleting local data removes it permanently. There is no request to make and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal data held about you. NextThing holds no personal data about you on any server, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or erase.

You already have direct control over everything the app stores: you can view it in the app, export it with the backup feature, and delete it by clearing the app's data.

Changes to this policy

Optional cloud sync is future work and is not implemented yet. If future versions add accounts, cloud sync, analytics, or other online features, this policy will be updated before those features are used, and the date at the top of this page will change.
